Sometimes the magic happens behind the scenes. As part of “An Extraordinary February,” bat mitzvah girls from a nearby kibbutz and their parents came to our makerspace to build the set for “Wonder” — a play about a boy who looks a little different. It was a moment of shared creation — of carpentry, paint, and plenty of togetherness.

A Home for Community Projects — by the Community, for the Community
The Educational Dimension: Education for acceptance of the other takes on real meaning through the choice of the play’s subject and the shared act of creation. Acquiring hands-on workshop skills with real tools.
The Industrial Dimension: Working in a professional makerspace, using the center’s facilities and meeting real-world standards of execution and finish.
The Community Dimension: An intergenerational connection around a local cultural event that promotes acceptance of those who are different. Advancing values of inclusion and tolerance.
The Connection/The experience: “A father and daughter standing together, covered in paint, holding a piece of the set that will soon stand on stage. That’s the real wonder.”
